The Ontology Engineering Group is at the top-ten of research groups at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). It is based on the School of Computer Science at UPM. Its research areas cover Ontological Engineering, Semantic Web and Linked Data, Semantics in Open Science, and Data-Driven Language Technologies. We have developed applications in a wide range of domains, including knowledge management, environment, e-commerce, job market, funding, geospatial, libraries, etc.

Profile: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Master's Degree in Computer Science

Job vacancy: Developer specialising in semantic data space virtualisation

Job responsibilities:

  • Design of components for data spaces
  • Development of components for data spaces
  • Development of a graphical interface for creating mapping rules
  • Development of a component for the automatic generation of mapping rules based on language models
  • Integration of these components with reference architectures
  • Deployment and maintenance of the developed components
  • Validation of components for data spaces in real data spaces

Specific requirements:

  • Candidates must be tax residents in Spain, or be willing to become tax residents in Spain. The office is located in Boadilla del Monte, near Madrid, Spain.

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must hold a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Developer profile with a solid grasp of programming fundamentals and experience and autonomy in the design and development of service-oriented software (Flask, REST APIs).
  • Experience in at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript) and at least one framework for service development.
  • Experience in back-end development (Node.js, Express) and in database configuration, indexing and querying.
  • Knowledge of technologies such as Git or Docker.

Desirable requirements:

  • Solid knowledge of ontologies and ontology engineering.
  • Solid knowledge of semantic technologies and knowledge graphs such as RDF, OWL, SPARQL and related tools (e.g. Apache Jena and Apache Fuseki).
  • Experience in front-end development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of data space architectures (IDSA, Gaia-X, Simpl)..
  • Ability to work in a team, show initiative, be flexible and possess excellent communication skills to work as part of a multinational and multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in scientific dissemination and publication.

Skills:

  • The ability to work to tight deadlines is essential.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
