This metric ensures that both metadata and data are assigned persistent identifiers to the Research Object to support long-term accessibility and reliability.
What is being measured?
Whether persistent identifiers (PIDs) are assigned to both metadata and data resources, ensuring their continued referenceability and resolution over time.
Why should we measure it? While some identifiers (e.g., HTTP URLs) may be globally unique, they are not necessarily persistent—they can break (link rot) or point to changed content (content drift). Persistent identifiers, such as DOIs, ARKs, and Handles, are designed and governed to ensure long-term stability and resolvability.
What must be provided for the measurement?
The identifiers (if any) assigned to both.
What are considered valid results?
Both the metadata and the data resource are assigned persistent identifiers, such as DOI, Handle, or ARK.
